Liz and Don Marry on Marco Island, Florida
March 5, 2010Marco Beach Wedding Photography | Liz and Don’s Wedding
March 3, 2010

Marco Wedding Photography, Marco Beach Ocean Resort, Marco Island, Florida- This weekend Liz and Don were married in a sunset ceremony at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort. Their friends and family flew in for a wonderful week of activities and fun on the beach. When I arrived at the hotel I saw their schedule of the week’s activities. I was sorry I missed the welcome reception, spa day, grooms dinner, deep sea fishing adventure and farewell brunch. It sounded like a wonderful week together. The group was busy everyday with all kinds of activities on the Island and had a great time with all the activites. Liz and her two sisters, Christie and Mary and mom Pat looked beautiful and relaxed. Libby and Ellie are Liz’s nieces. They stole the show as the flowergirls. They were too cute in their matching dresses. I couldn’t get over their manicures and pedicures. They were precious. Bob Mitchell of A Beautiful Florida Wedding was the officiant. The Marco Island Florist did a fabulous job as usual with the flowers. It was cool and breezy on the beach for the ceremony but the sunset was spectacular. When Liz and her parents walked on the beach I could tell by the look in Don’s eyes how much he loves her. That is always my favorite part of the wedding when the groom looks at the bride and everyone else in nonexistant. It was a beautiful ceremony and the group had cocktails on the terrace as we went back to the beach to do some romantic sunset shots.
Liz is the last of the sisters to be married. They told me they have a family tradition that they have each had their wedding pictures done in a convertible. Liz’s parents drove the BMV convertible from South Dakota, so we did some images after dark in the circle ceremony and reception. Here is the link to the slideshow: Liz and Don’s Wedding Slideshow

Gulf Harbour Family Photography | Caroline and Jack Slideshow
February 21, 2010

Gulf Harbour Yacht and Country Club is a great spot for family, wedding and engagement photos in Fort Myers. Gulf Harbour Country Club has a perfect location, right off Mc Gregor Blvd. The clubhouse is large and spacious and can accomodate large groups and wedding parties. They have a wonderful golf course, beautiful beaches, large swimming pool and marina where you can dock your boat. They also have tennis courts and a very active tennis association that has many tournaments at the club.
Yesterday I was with Caroline, Jack, Weese, Laurie and Lou for some fun family photos on the beach. There was plenty of beachfront for the kids to run around and have fun. They also enjoyed climbing in the mangroves and swinging on the swings in the playground area. There are walking trails all around the private island. The kids headed to the pool to splash around after our photo session yesterday. They enjoy every minute while they are in Fort Myers and especially love the pool and beach at the clubhouse. Gulf Harbour Country Club was the destination for my family photoshoot this week. Every year I look forward to Caroline and Jack’s visit to Fort Myers. They live in Connecticut and come down with their mom and dad to visit their aunt Weese. Yesterday we all went to Gulf Harbour to take some family photos on the beach. The kids are adorable and so much fun to work with. Here are a few of the kids I thought you might enjoy. It is a great place for weddings too if you are considering getting married in Fort Myers. There are so many beautiful locations on the property for pictures. Their golf course winds through the entire property and gives a lush, tropical backdrop to pictures through out the resort. The large pool overlooks the marina and has very colorful bouganvilla on the trellis outside the pool. They seem to be in bloom for most of the year. The clubhouse has great architecture with large columns and a terracotta color. Many of the weddings take place under the cover of the entrance to the country club. This shields everyone from the sun and the elements, while still giving the view of the property.

Marco Wedding- Marco Beach Ocean Resort was the location for Matt and Oxana’s wedding earlier this week. It was a sunny, breezy day and everything was beautiful. Before the wedding, Matt and Oxana saw each other in private for a “First Glimpse”. This is very popular with couples today. We find a private place and I arrange to have the groom there alone with his back turned. Then I arrange for the bride to sneak up behind him and tap him on the shoulder. He turns around with great anticipation to see his gorgeous bride. In private, he can tell her how beautiful she looks and how much he loves her. They can embrace and cherish this private time alone together. During this time, I am off at a distance with a telephoto lens on my camera, capturing all the love and emotions. These moments are totally unscripted and I do not interrupt or direct. The couples love these private moments together before the ceremony. Since the groom does not see the bride approaching during the First Glimpse, when she comes down the aisle with her dad, it still seems like the first time he has seen her in her gown. Ask Doreen about arranging a “First Glimpse” before your ceremony. It only takes a few moments but you will remember the emotions forever. You will also have all of the pictures to remember the moments together. All of the couples who have experienced this moment together were very happy they did. Let us know if you have any questions about a First Glimpse before your nuptials.

Marco Wedding Photography- Marco Beach Ocean Resort was the location for Oxana and Matt’s Nuptials yesterday. Matt is a world traveler and met Oxana on one of his trips, in Vietnam. They have had a long distance romance , ever since and wanted to get married on the beach on Valentines Day. Marco Wedding photography at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort is always a pleasure because of the wonderful staff and romantic beach location. The architecture there is perfect for beautiful wedding photos and the gardens there are my favorite. The lush green tropical plants always provide a beautiful backdrop for the pictures. It is always cool and shady in the gardens so everyone’s hair and makeup looks great and no one is squinting from the sun. There is also a large pool at the resort with romantic cabanas where they hold many cocktail receptions and rehearsal dinner receptions. The terrace at the hotel is very unique. It has a perfect view of the beach and the gulf. All of the wedding guests love to sit and enjoy their dinner and cocktails as the sun goes down over the horizon. Matt and Oxana had a morning service and their guests enjoyed the daytime view from the hotel terrace.
Oxana looked gorgeous for her wedding and her mom, sister and best friend, Anna traveled all the way from Russia for the Marco Island Wedding. It was cool and breezy in the
morning when we arrived but the sun warmed everything up for the ceremony and reception on the Marco Beach Ocean Resort Terrace. Here are a few images from their day. For their honeymoon Matt and Oxana went more tropical- to Hawaii. We wish them the best.

Sanibel Wedding Photography | Jennifer and Cody
February 8, 2010

Sanibel wedding photography- Last night I was on Sanibel Island- doing a wedding photoshoot for Jennifer and Cody. I am great friends with their families and was very disappointed when I was already booked for their wedding date. They are getting married at the Burroughs Home in downtown Fort Myers in a few weeks. It will be a great wedding and I am sorry I can’t be there to help them celebrate. They wanted some beach pictures in their wedding attire so we went over for Sanibel wedding photography down by the lighthouse. We had a great time and got tons of great images. It was very chilly and windy out. They were both troopers and did great. Their aunt Bonnie is my great friend, she was my lighting assistant for the night and kept Jennifer warm and entertained too. Here are a few images from last night. There is lots of driftwood, many mangroves, beautiful beaches and gorgeous sunsets there. If you walk around the corner there is also a fishing pier that has great views of the bridge that connects the island to Fort Myers. There are always lots of fisherman there so they must be catching lots. While you are visiting, you must go to one of the well known restaurants in the area. Many of them specialize in seafood and great views. Many people wait and watch the sunset and then go to dinner afterwards. Even from across town, when you go to Sanibel, whether to sun, to fish, to bicycle ride or just nap on the beach- you feel like you are on vacation. If you have extra time you may want to travel to Captiva, they have interesting restaurants and lots of gorgeous home to see. It’s worth the trip.

Destination Wedding Photography | Nashville, TN
January 15, 2010

This week I was in Nashville, TN for the Annual Digital Wedding Forum Conference. It is a great convention with wedding photographers from all over the world with all kinds of new concepts and ideas. I always go to these conferences with my 3 best friends in the world- Deb, Stacey and Wanda. We met 5 years ago in Montana while we all were attending the Rocky Mountain School of Photography and have been great friends ever since. The four of us live in very different parts of the US, so it’s always fun to travel to one place or another-together . We all love photography and travel and none of our husbands ever want to come along and hear all the girl talk, so we have a wonderful time on our get togethers. Nashville was a balmy 10 degrees and snowing during our visit. Living in Florida I didn’t have a winter jacket – but I do now. We took the tour of Nashville and saw all the famous country music sites like the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame and all the country entertainment clubs, downtown. We were on the lookout for some country music stars but didn’t spot any. Part of our conference was downtown by Vanderbilt and the other part was at the Opryland hotel. We saw all the latest wedding photography products and albums from all over the world. I didn’t bring my camera so all the pictures of Nashville were done by my friends Stacey, Deb and Wanda. Now I am back in town and back to work. Stay tuned for some images of some gorgeous new products we just received. Doreen
