Cod Wedding Photography, Naples Wedding Photographer
On our way back from Meredith and Shawn’s Wedding on Block Island, my sister Kay and I took a slight detour and spent a few days of R and R on Cape Cod. After Labor Day Cape Cod is much less crowded, the weather was sunny and in the 70’s. We met up with our friend Al, who took us on a Dunes Tour. We heard the history of Cape Cod and how the artist colony in the Dunes got started and who actually lives there. Escape to Italy…… At Least for a Few Moments
August 19, 2009Italy travel photography. My husband Dave and I take a month off every year to travel. This year we went all over Italy and had a wonderful time doing Italy travel photography. All of our friends love to see where we have been so I usually make a slideshow or two with the music of the country as the background. Here are a few covers of the slideshows for my Italy Travel Photography Series.
Under the Tuscan Sun
August 17, 2009
One of our last stops on our Italy adventure was the medieval city of Cortona, featured in the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun". We were surprised that the town was packed with tourists, they must have all seen the movie. We never did find the villa featured in the film and I walked all over the city and never recognized any of the scenes in the movie. It was a charming walled city with gorgeous views of the surrounding farms and
vineyards. I finally found some live sunflowers and was delighted to capture some images of the fields of sunflower stretching as far as the eye could see. After Cortona, we packed up and drove back to Rome to fly to the US. Looking at all of my pictures in retrospect, I can't believe how much we saw in our 3 weeks in Italy. I will be putting together some slideshows shortly of our adventures so stay tuned. I also have some authentic Italian music for the background. Thanks for sharing our images of Our Italian Holiday. It's back to work this week…. Doreen
Romantic Venice at Night
August 15, 2009
There are no words to express the romance and beauty of Venice at dusk and into the night. Each evening after a wonderful dinner at one of the outdoor cafes and a entire day of people-watching we would jump on the vaporetto and sail around the Grand Canal and look at all of the lights and people in the gondolas, cruising the canals. I had my new camera which goes up to 25,600 ISO so I was virtually taking pictures in the dark, with very little light. You have to be there to experience it but I thought in the meantime you would enjoy a little of the Romance of Venice on a summer night…… I hope these images motivate you to visit Venice and if you need a photographer, give me a call. Magical Venice
August 15, 2009
My favorite place in the world is Venice and I am so happy we were able to go back on this trip. We took the train from Tuscany and the train was jam packed and another great adventure to remember. Venice is a photographers dream and the architecture is amazing wherever you look. It is built on 800 islands that are all joined by little bridge and there are no cars or motorbikes. This was our 4th trip to Venice and we were joined by a lovely couple who we met on our tour. We walked all over Venice and rode the public transportation vaporetto (public water transport) while we took in all the sites from the Grand Canal. Here are a few of the images from Venice by day I thought you might like to see. The next post will be some romantic images of Venice at night.
I am always looking to go back to Venice so if anyone is considering getting married in Venice or needs engagement or wedding images done there- give me a call 239-823-7784.
Landscapes of Tuscany
August 15, 2009
While traveling to our different destinations we saw lots of landscapes of
Tuscany. Here are a few of the farmhouses and vineyards and farms we saw along the way. The most amazing site was how many sunflowers fields there were. Most of the sunflowers had already been harvested and were dying. Later in our trip, near Cortona we came across some live sunflowers and I will include them in a later post. Stay tuned for Venice next- my favorite city….. Doreen
Dave and the Giant Pizza in Medieval Siena
August 15, 2009

Dave loves pizza and we had lots of opportunities to try the italian version during our trip. While we were in Siena we came across a giant pizza in the doorway of a restaurant. I had to have Dave pose with the pizza for our grandon, Austin. The pizza was great and we loved the thin crust and lots of cheese. They had many different varieties of pizza- even french fries on pizza!
Siena is one of the most beautiful walled cities in all of Italy. The Piazza del Campo is the central square where they have horse races around the perimeter of the square in mid August. Surrounding the square are numerous lovely churches and palaces dating from the twelth to sixteenth centuries. Here and throughout the city are some of the most splendid examples ofGothic architecture in Italy. Automobiles are banned from the city center so we could walk and view the beauty of the city without worrying about being run over by a motorscooter. The driving age in Italy for motorscooters is 14, so we were never quite sure that we were safe with the kids driving and on their cellphones or texting while we were crossing the roads.
Taste of Tuscany
August 15, 2009
Tuscany travel photography. We had a chance to go all over Tuscany while in Italy. We visited the charming medieval city of Radicofani. It is a charming little town built in the tenth century. We were the only tourists there during our visit and we wandered down many of the narrow streets and explored the Old Town and saw the hilltop fortress. After Radiocofani we stopped at a family-owned farmhouse and had a traditional Tuscan homemade meal and sampled vintages from the family’s vineyards. Hope you like my Tuscany travel photography pictures.
Ruins of the Etruscan Museum, Chianciano, Italy
August 14, 2009
Italy Travel photography. In Tuscany, we stayed in Chianciano, which is a layed back vacation, spa town with natural springs and healing waters. During the summer, many Italians take their vacation here because of the healing properties of the natural springs and high mineral content of the waters. The italy travel photography was so much fun. We wish we could have stayed in Tuscany for longer and gone to the spa. It requires a doctors prescription for the spa and then a medical checkup from the spa doctors. We did not taste the waters but enjoyed all of the other aspects of Tuscany. We visited the Etruscan Museum in Chianciano and learned all about the Etruscans and their beliefs in life after death, just like the Egyptians. We saw the remains of the burial sites and pottery and jewelry. After our tour of the museum we went to a farmhouse and learned how they make wine and saw their Tuscany cooking classes they offer. Hope you like the Italy Travel Photography. We had a great lunch with 5 courses with the local bread, pasta, cheese, olive oil, pizza and wine.
